World Bank: International Phosphate Prices Rose About 14% in February

According to Al Rai newspaper, World Bank data shows that international phosphate prices in February rose 14.2% from the end of 2016, reaching USD 360/ton.

According to Jordan's Department of Statistics, Jordan's phosphate exports in 2016 totaled 372 million dinars, up 20.4% year-on-year. Jordan Phosphate Mines Company produces over 7 million tons of phosphate annually, making it the world's second-largest phosphate exporter and sixth-largest phosphate producer. The company owns 4 phosphate mines located in central and southern Jordan. Brunei Investment Authority holds 37% of the company's shares, Kuwait Holdings 9%, and the Jordan Government Pension Fund 16%.
